Important Notice on Changing Box Manufacturers

Notice: 11/6/09

In May of 2009, D.O.T issued an official interpretation on how to remain in compliance when switching box makers on a UN Certified box for shipping hazardous materials. Essentially there as 3 choices when a shipper of hazardous materials wants to switch to a new box manufacturer.
1) The box manufacturer must mark the box with their name or symbol identifying them as the manufacturer of the box.
2) In order to continue using the third party lab mark, authorization must be received from the third party lab certifying the package
3) Re-test the package with the original third-party lab
